Kendo Men (Head Guard) - Hand-stitched Navy Leather - 1-bu 2-rin

Purchased individually a few years ago from a martial arts equipment store. The maker's mark is unknown, but it is described as 1-bu 2-rin hand-stitched with navy leather.

I bought it for the purpose of dan promotion examinations. Other than the actual examination, I wore it multiple times with an anti-sweat pad attached to the chin. After that, it felt too good to use and became a display piece, and has been stored for a long time.

For reference, I used it with a circumference from the top of my head to the tip of my chin of approximately 67 cm, and a forehead circumference of approximately 55 cm.
(I believe face size preference is subjective, so please consider this purely as a reference.)

I am not aware of the maker's mark or grade, but in my personal opinion, the men (face guard) has a short futon (padding), fine stitching, and the purple thread used in some areas is stylish. Due to the fine stitching, it is firm and crisp, giving a smart and lightweight yet luxurious impression.

There are some scuffs on the inside of the men tare (lower part of the men) due to use, but the men himo (straps) tightening area at the rear end of the men tare is clean with no major scuffs or discoloration.

The number of uses is extremely low, and overall it is clean, but there is some sign of wear and scuffing from use, as well as the smell characteristic of剣道具 (kendo equipment) from long-term storage.

As a bonus, I will include the chin strap (nyugawa) and men himo (straps) that I changed to my preference. The men himo are new, washed once with water to remove some indigo dye, dried, stretched, and then cut short.

Overall, it is clean, and the men tare can be shaped to your preference. I believe it is a good quality item that can still be actively used for examinations, matches, etc. However, please consider it as a used item before making your decision.

Although not shown in the images, there is a name tag on the inside of the men tare, which will be removed before shipping.
