Vintage /Antique Hand Needlework Holiday Candles, Snowflakes, Pine Boughs & Scroll created as a Decorated Table or Buffet Runner, Mantle or Lectern Cloth - Approximately 18 x 42  Cross-Stitch worked in Gold, Silver, Mustard, Green & Ivory - Mix of wool & silk threads on cream wool with a bronze toned metallic braided ornate edge trim. Embroidered long stitch silk accents and gold glass beads further enhance the design - It is completely hand made.  This one sort of has me stumped. It was beautifully done by an accomplished needleworker. I can't tell how old it is for sure. It could be antique up to 1950's Mid-Century at the latest. The trim I've seen on Victorian textiles, but it could have been a saved trim. The wool is not fine woven, more like a homespun. Unfortunately, it is not dated.  It was rolled on a sort of flattened tube in old storage for decades. I held it up to light and didn't see any moth holes, and the integrity of the fabric remains good. I do see some very light tannish colored age foxing that seems spotty down the center. I pointed some out in photographs but they are hard to see unless viewed from a different angle. No attempt to clean or press on my part. There is no smoke odor.  Please study all the photos in zoom. I took many to cover all the parts for a good close-up view.  It is a lovely old textile suited to an old world, elegant aesthetic. Its design is well suited to the holidays at home or for a decorative church cloth.
