[Daihannya Nagamitsu] A famous tachi by Nagamitsu, a swordsmith of the Bizen Osafune school. Its national treasure designation is Tachi, Mei Nagamitsu (Daihannya Nagamitsu). The name Daihannya comes from the fact that it was valued at an enormous 600 kan (a unit of currency) during the Muromachi period, associating it with the 600 volumes of the Daihannya Sutra. It was bestowed by the Ashikaga shogunate to their trusted retainer Nagayoshi Miyoshi, and eventually came into the hands of Nobunaga Oda. Ieyasu Tokugawa, who received it from Nobunaga Oda for his meritorious service at the Battle of Anegawa, later gave it to Nobumasa Okudaira for his achievements at the Battle of Nagashino.
