Mortise Gauge, Mortise Ruler, Made from 2mm thick SUS304 plate, Carpenter's Gauge
Made from 2mm thick SUS304 (18-8 stainless steel) plate.
This was precisely manufactured by the same workshop that produces our Auto-Ikkari.
*The last three photos show the machines used to create this gauge.
Mitsubishi Laser Cutter: Cuts according to CAD data from a computer.
Komatsu Press Brake: Bends at right angles with consistent dimensions.
Tapper: Creates vertical screw threads.
All parts were cut using a laser cutting machine and bent at 90 degrees using a press brake. The bolts securing the wing nuts were threaded into the plate and then TIG welded from the back to prevent any protrusion.
For the center ruler section, to minimize play, the hole diameter is 5.9mm for a 5.8mm bolt diameter. (When the wing nut is against the spring nut, there is virtually no play.)
The movable part of the angle section that clamps wood also has a bolt and hole diameter that are nearly identical. The nylon nut on the back prevents rotation, allowing you to adjust the tightness to your preference.
Shipping will be via Yamato Nekoposu, and the item will be packed disassembled.
*When assembling, the bolts for the angle section may be difficult to insert. Try turning them while pushing them in; they will go all the way to the base. Once inserted, the movement will be smooth.
