This is a tool used by knife makers in Sakai to correct warping in blades.
Knives that have been used or stored for a long time may develop warping. If you try to sharpen a warped knife on a whetstone, the part you want to sharpen may not make contact with the stone, or unintended areas may touch it, causing the blade's shape to deteriorate further.
To use it, first identify where the warping is on the knife. Then, hold the knife in your right hand and the straightening bar in your left hand, and use the principle of leverage to bend the blade in the opposite direction of the warp.
Instead of applying force all at once, bend with light force, check the blade, and gradually adjust the amount of force.
Made of hard oak, it is highly durable and long-lasting.
