These are beautiful Tsugaru-nuri Riku Geta (wooden clogs) with a psychedelic speckled pattern. (Listing is for the footwear only)

The intricate speckled pattern of Karunuri, a representative style of Tsugaru-nuri, is created by skilled artisans who repeatedly apply and dry layers of lacquer, then polish and rub to achieve a glossy finish. Each piece is unique and captivating.

While Riku Geta are often thought to be for rainy days, they are actually designed for walking on muddy ground after rain. We encourage you to use them for everyday wear without worry.

The straps are Nikoku (two-stone) straps woven with a complex pattern using Wana velvet, a rare type that fewer artisans are able to attach these days.
