This is a simple, old-fashioned pattern.

My mother prepared this for me when we lived halfway up the mountain, and I wore it for the first time at the local Bon Odori festival. However, I didn't want to wear it the following year because I was running around and playing with my kindergarten friends (in a small community of two classes from kindergarten to elementary school) at the back of the plaza during the Bon Odori. My younger brother also refused to wear it, saying he was going to play tag with his older brother's friends.

Later, we moved to a condominium facing the old highway, and eventually, the grandchildren's generation arrived. We watched the fireworks display from the rooftop of the condominium, sitting comfortably on cushions without being jostled by the crowds.

We went to the night stalls at summer festivals, but I completely forgot that this was in the bottom of the chest of drawers. I prepared new yukata for my grandsons and granddaughters from a young age so they could get used to wearing them. I thought, Even children from inbound tourists wear yukata and walk around the streets of Kyoto...

I recently renovated my mother-in-law's paulownia chest of drawers, decluttered our furniture, and moved it from my in-laws' home in Tokyo to the condominium. I rediscovered this during the rearrangement!

My eldest grandson is already in junior high school, and my second grandson is in the second grade of elementary school. Since there are only girls left, I am putting this up for sale to organize my belongings.

The shoulder tucks are still in place!

Upon closer inspection, I noticed a faint stain on the string and knees that I hadn't noticed before. It looked clean, but I thought, Boys of this age can't possibly stay still... I will wash it carefully before shipping.
