Vintage 1950s Mid Century Modernist Brown Art Pottery Horse Head Ceramic Vase
Unmarked
Sculptural mid-century style meets equestrian drama in this Trojan horse head ceramic vase. This vintage brown-glazed pottery vase/planter features a stylized Trojan horse head with a dramatic crested mane and flowing neck—classic mid-century Trojan motif, in the style of Haeger and other 1950s–60s American art potteries. Likely 1950s–1960s. Unmarked on the base. • Form: standing horse head with crested “Trojan” mane and open top; works as a vase, planter, or sculptural bookend-style accent • Color & finish: rich caramel / chestnut brown high-gloss glaze with subtle tonal variation • Era: mid century (circa 1950s–1960s, unmarked, maker unknown; in the style of Haeger’s Trojan horse line) • Measurements: approx. 10 tall x 7 long x 4.25 wide Very good vintage condition. Glossy glaze overall with no chips, cracks, or repairs noted. Light shelf wear and scuffing to the unglazed portions of the base appropriate for age and use—please zoom all photos for the best close-up views. Perfect for an equestrian, Greek/Roman, or Trojan-war inspired vignette. Style on a mid-century credenza, office shelf, home library, or mantel as a stand-alone sculpture, or use as a vase for dried stems or utensils (if using with water, I recommend a protective pad under the base). The profile reads beautifully from both sides, so it displays well on open shelving or a console table. Packed with care and shipped quickly from my smoke-free Vero Beach, Florida studio.
